C-Capture Shortlisted for Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Award

C-Capture, developers of innovative carbon capture technology, has reached the final of this year’s Excellence in Business Awards organised by the Yorkshire Post.

The company’s next generation technology – which captures carbon dioxide from flue gas emissions to mitigate climate change – is shortlisted in the ‘Innovation’ category.  Now in their 18th year, the awards celebrate a cross-section of businesses and the vital role that they play in the economic success of Yorkshire. The Innovation award recognises products, services, business models or initiatives that are doing something different, creating change or making a positive difference to clients, customers or staff.

C-Capture’s proprietary solvent-based technology is an innovation for the carbon capture sector. Based on fundamentally different chemistry to other commercially available solutions, C-Capture’s solution is lower cost, environmentally benign and extremely robust. The advantages of C-Capture’s approach mean it has the potential to break through the barriers that are currently preventing the widespread adoption of carbon capture and storage technology – and make a globally significant contribution to tackling climate change.

Tom White, CEO, C-Capture, said: “I’m absolutely delighted to reach the final of the region’s Excellence in Business Awards. A Northern-based innovator with global ambitions, we’ve been at the forefront developing next generation cleantech for over a decade since we were formed as a spin-out company from the University of Leeds in 2009. This is fantastic recognition for our talented team who are committed to developing our technology to its maximum potential to accelerate the adoption of carbon capture in the fight against climate change.”

Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Awards winners will be announced on Wednesday 22nd November at Headingley Stadium.
