Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, visited this morning to meet members of the C-Capture team who have joined the company as part of its support of Mayor’s 1,000 Green Jobs in West Yorkshire Pledge. The initiative is part of the West Yorkshire region’s commitment to reach net zero by 2038 and is driven by the Green Jobs Taskforce, created by the mayor and made-up of experts from businesses, education, and the public sector.

The taskforce sets out a roadmap to deliver the skills and jobs needed to address the climate emergency in West Yorkshire.

West Yorkshire Combined Authority has supported C-Capture by connecting the business with local talent and helping them to upskill staff so they can build talent pipelines, increase productivity, and close skill gaps.

Tracy Brabin, Mayor of West Yorkshire, said: “We’re creating 1,000 green jobs for young people, and companies like C-Capture are helping us do this by taking on bright new apprentices.

“We’re working with businesses to upskill local talent, build resilience against flooding and boost sustainability to cut energy bills.

“Together, we’ll deliver a net zero-carbon region by 2038 and a brighter, greener West Yorkshire for all.”

Tom White, CEO, C-Capture, said: “As an innovative clean tech company created in Leeds, we were keen to support the West Yorkshire green jobs pledge. We’re expanding rapidly as we aim to develop our next generation carbon capture technology to its maximum potential and make a globally significantly contribution to reaching net zero. Ensuring we have the right team of talented, committed people is integral to that plan – and we’re proud to have successfully recruited to the roles that we pledged as part of the Mayor’s green jobs initiative.  I was delighted to welcome Mayor Brabin today to meet our team and discover more about our pioneering carbon capture technology.”

C-Capture’s proprietary solvent-based technology captures carbon dioxide from emissions. Based on fundamentally different chemistry to other currently available carbon capture approaches, C-Capture’s solution is amine free and environmentally benign. Extremely robust, it is suitable for use in industries that are difficult to decarbonise. The advantages of C-Capture’s solution mean it has the potential to break through the barriers that are currently preventing the widespread adoption of carbon capture technology and mitigate the impacts of climate change.
