Tom started his career in scientific research and development at the University of Manchester’s Chemical Engineering Department. Here he gained 11 years’ experience, operating and supporting the chemical engineering and biotechnology laboratories as well as a large-scale pilot plant facility.
His most recent role was at the University of Leeds in the field of radiation protection. He developed and managed ionising and non-ionising radiation safety, ran a radiological lab to support statutory testing and investigation, and provided specialist advice and knowledge.
He has worked across a range of large-scale scientific projects and experiments, delivering new experimental concepts and designs, alongside researchers, students and industrial partners such as Shell, Unilever and Cameron.
