C-Capture’s Technology
C-Capture’s unique, low-cost, low-impact carbon capture technology can be installed at new build installations or retrofitted to existing assets to decarbonise their activities.
Furthermore, capturing the CO2 emissions from burning responsibly and sustainably sourced biomass (bio-energy with carbon capture and storage, or BECCS) has the potential to generate negative emissions electricity, which has the net effect of removing CO2 from the atmosphere. This approach will be crucial to reach net zero targets when other sectors which are hard to decarbonise with current technology, such as aviation, are considered.
Drax Power Station Pilot Plant
C-Capture has had a pilot plant installed at Drax Power Station, N. Yorkshire, UK since February 2019.
This is a key stage in allowing us to design a full scale plant capable of capturing 10,000+ tonnes of CO2 per day from one of the four biomass boilers. The data generated by the pilot plant includes the stability and efficiency of the capture process, the compatibility of our solvent technology with biomass derived flue gas, the rate of solvent degradation (a key component of the operating cost of our process), and understand and mitigate any potential environmental impact of our process.
